Looking for a unique way to experience South Dakota’s prairies on the land Laura Ingalls Wilder’s family homestead? Spend the day exploring De Smet, participating in the activities at the Ingalls Homestead finish it off watching the beautiful prairie sunset from your covered wagon.
This package includes admission for four to Ingalls Homestead and one night’s stay in a covered wagon. Our covered wagons are modeled after an 1890s sheepherder’s wagon. They feature a standard full-size mattress and two single mats, screened windows and (shh – don’t tell) electricity – pretty good amenities for the prairie. Each wagon also has a fire ring and picnic table. Modern bathrooms and showers on-site. Guests must provide their own linens.
