Last week was beautiful on Big Stone Lake. Very little wind and warm temperatures made us believe that summer is actually here. Unfortunately, the warmer days combined with our unusually crystal clear water has warmed the water up to an 80 degree average really slowing the walleye bite. However, the white bass are very active and a lot of fun for our families coming to the area for fishing and water recreation.

The avid fishermen still continue to work the weeds by casting crankbaits or trolling over them with a bottom bouncer/spinner to find those fussy walleye, but they are few and far between. It is the time of year to send folks out for what is biting and the white bass have been the most aggressive. We are seeing a few northern and largemouth bass as well.

The 4th of July holiday is fast approaching and we will see more anglers out there trying to set the hook on a decent catch.
