"The Call of the Country"

The City of Wheaton is a very progressive community on the western edge of Minnesota. The area is rich in history and outdoor opportunities along with a very healthy business environment.
Wheaton lies on what was once the bottom of glacial Lake Agassiz, a prehistoric lake that vanished more than 2000 years ago. The legacy of Lake Agassiz is the rich soil that today supports some of the most prosperous farms in the nation.
Lake Traverse is located just a couple miles west and has some of the best walleye, northern and panfishing around. Fishing is excellent as a four season sport, with special events offered during the early season opener and the Lake Traverse Fishing Derby, held the second weekend in June.
The entire family will enjoy memories of fun-filled days in Wheaton....the harness races, carnival rides, big name entertainment at the county fair and a glimpse of yesteryear at our quaint railroad museum; golf, water sports, hunting and down-home cooking, we've got it all.
