The Granary is located 12 miles east of Aberdeen or 6 miles northwest of Groton in the heart of the fertile James river Valley, one of the greatest grain producing areas in North America. The Granary is a unique and hospitable gathering place for people to celebrate the culture and art of the Northern Plains. We are not a museum, but a living facility where activities enrich the lives of people in our region. Our primary features are the Granary Memorial Gallery, a 1928 wooden granary converted to five quality art exhibit rooms; Putney hall, a restored 1912 town hall with a dance floor & meeting area, balcony and stage; a modern gazebo, with tables and seating for 40; a picnic shelter; a barbecue pit and a grain bin for storage. The Granary operates from May 1 through Labor Day, featuring a series of festivals and exhibitions. There are three major arts programs planned annually at the Granary. They are: -- All Dakota High School Fine Arts Exhibition; Held the first full weekend of May. -- All Dakota Fine Arts Festival; Held the second full weekend of June -- Summer Fine Arts; Held periodically July 1 through Labor Day The Granary is open daily from 1pm to 5pm and closed Mondays.
